MauPad

Terms of service

Version 2026-11-01 · effective 1 November 2026.

These terms are the agreement between MauPad (“we”, “us”) and you, anyone who uses the Service: a guest, a host or a visitor. You accept these terms by using the Service.

A listing is also governed by the host agreement, and a booking by the guest agreement. How we use personal data is in the privacy policy at maupad.com/privacy.

Definitions

  • Service: the site maupad.com and what we provide through it.
  • Property: a home, or part of one, that a host lists.
  • Host: a person or company that lets a property to us, which we list and provide to guests, or a company that does so through a person entitled to act on its behalf.
  • Guest: a person who books a stay.
  • Listing: a property, or a room in it, as described on the Service, with its prices, calendar and house rules.
  • Booking: a stay we have confirmed, for the dates and the people it names.
  • Stay: the period from check-in to check-out, in Mauritius time.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into a contract. You register under your own legal name and hold one account; a company registers through a person entitled to act on its behalf. You need an account to look for a property, to list one and to book.

You are responsible for what is done on your account by you, or by anyone you allow to use it. Keep access to the email address and any Google account you sign in with secure. If you believe someone has used your account without your permission, tell us at legal@maupad.com as soon as you can. You are not responsible for use of your account that you did not allow and could not reasonably have prevented.

We may refuse, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts a guest, a host or us at risk, and we say why unless the law prevents it.

Parties to a stay

We are the party each side deals with. A guest books from us and pays us; a host lets the property to us, and we provide it to the guests whose bookings we confirm, and is paid by us. Guests and hosts do not contract with each other for a stay, and neither pays the other.

The property belongs to its host. Where the host has chosen our full service, we manage the property for the host; otherwise the host runs it. We are responsible to the guest for the stay we sell; the host is responsible to us for the property, under the host agreement; and the guest is responsible to us for the guest’s conduct at the property, under the guest agreement.

We check hosts before a listing goes live and guests before a first booking. The checks are not a guarantee of any person or property.

Listings

  • A host may list only a property the host owns or has the right to let, with every permission a lease, a co-owner, a building or the law requires.
  • A listing is accurate: the photographs are of the property, the description says what is there and what is not, and the price shown is the whole price of the stay.
  • A guest sees the house rules before booking.
  • A host keeps the calendar current. A confirmed booking is the host’s commitment to make the property available for it — and, under standard service, to receive the guest; what a host who cancels one owes is in the host agreement.
  • We may edit, hide or remove a listing that is inaccurate, unlawful, unsafe or in breach of these terms.

Booking

  • On a listing with instant booking, a request to book is accepted at once; otherwise the host — or we, where the host has chosen our full service — accepts or declines within the time the host agreement names, and an unanswered request lapses.
  • A booking is confirmed when the request has been accepted, we have received the guest’s payment and we have said so to both sides. Until then there is no booking.
  • Dates are calendar days in Mauritius, and check-in and check-out are at the times the listing names, in Mauritius time, whatever time zone a guest is in.
  • What the guest and the host each owe for the stay is in the guest agreement and the host agreement.

Payment

  • The guest pays us, by the methods shown at payment; prices are in Mauritian rupees, and the guest agreement says when each payment is due.
  • We hold what the guest pays and pay the host from it as the host agreement says.
  • A guest and a host may not pay each other, outside the Service, for a stay booked through it. Doing so is a breach of these terms: we may close the accounts involved, and we do not refund, or decide a dispute about, money that did not pass through us.
  • Every tax and charge on a stay is included in the price shown and is paid to us with it; nothing is paid at the door.

Cancellation and changes

A booking is cancelled, changed or ended early under the guest agreement, which says what is refunded. A host who cancels a confirmed booking owes us what the host agreement says, and we may suspend the listing or close the host’s account.

During the stay

What each side owes during a stay — the house rules, access, care of the property, damage and the deposit — is in the guest agreement and the host agreement. We decide how the money we hold for a stay is paid out, on the evidence both sides provide; this does not take away anyone’s right to go to court.

Conduct

These are not allowed on the Service:

  • Using the Service for anything unlawful, or letting or booking a property for an unlawful purpose.
  • Discriminating against a guest or a host on any ground the law protects.
  • Giving false information, impersonating someone, or holding more than one account.
  • Taking a stay off the Service once it was found there, to avoid these terms.
  • Scraping, copying or interfering with the site, or trying to reach another person’s account or data.

Content and reviews

What you post — photographs, descriptions, messages and reviews — stays yours. You allow us to show, store and copy it to run and promote the Service, and you confirm that you have the right to post it. A review states what the writer experienced; we remove a review that is false, abusive or about something other than the stay.

Liability

  • We provide the Service with reasonable care. What we owe a guest for a property that is not as listed is in the guest agreement.
  • Our liability to you for anything arising from a booking is limited to what was paid to us for, or what we owe you for, that booking. We are not liable for a loss we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for loss of profit or business. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, or any liability the law does not allow to be limited.
  • You are liable to us for a loss we could reasonably foresee from your breach of these terms, including what we pay the other side of your booking as a result.

Term and termination

You may close your account at any time by writing to legal@maupad.com; a booking already confirmed runs to its end under these terms. We may close an account as ‘Eligibility and accounts’ says. The sections ‘Payment’, ‘Content and reviews’, ‘Liability’ and ‘Governing law and disputes’ continue after an account is closed.

Governing law and disputes

These terms, and every booking, are governed by the laws of Mauritius, and the courts of Mauritius decide any dispute about them. This does not take away a consumer’s right to the courts of their own country where the law of that country mandates it.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the version and the date at the top change with them. Every change is announced to the email address of your account before it takes effect, and a booking already confirmed stays under the terms it was made under.
